About the Author
Chlo� Taylor is an assistant professor of philosophy at the University of Alberta. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Toronto and a postdoctoral fellowship from McGill University. Professor Taylor has published articles in journals such as Philosophy Today, Postmodern Culture and the Journal of Modern Literature. She is currently working on a book on Foucault and sex crimes, as well as undertaking research on animal ethics, feminism, and literature.

Not only for "academics"

Written in a highly accessible way, i found this book a pleasure to read. Taylor very clearly and concisely covered a lot of history and theory in her book, which was great, because it then made it easy to take those ideas and find contemporary manifestations of confessional culture that might exist in one's life. I would definitely recommend this book, especially if you enjoy Foucault, feminism, identity politics, or are interested in the practice of confession from antiquity to modernity.
