Short but powerful information

When we speak to others we forget that our words are just a SMALL FRACTION of what is being communicated. Whether we are speaking to one person or a large audience, the simple yet very effective tools and exercises taught in this book will give you authority and power to communicate effectively. I needed to hear these things. I immediately thought of recent situations I have been in where I know I was perceived as weak, simply from how I was speaking. I plan to work on this. Good and helpful little book to set you straight if you feel inadequate in your conversations with others or if you are preparing to speak to a larger group.

VB 2010 Made Easy Is Not

I purchased this book on the description and it seemed to meet what I was looking for. To my dismay, the second chapter tries to make the first program in windows. The instructions are so bad that I couldn't do it. I looked and looked and it just did not make sense. This is the first time that I had to return a book. Sorry but this book just does not make it. Good workbook, provokes thinking

Good, clear explanations of theory. The author/instructor is very wise, by not spelling out every detail in the exercises; but leaving room for the student to struggle a little and thus learn the material more deeply. I am learning a lot with this book, and it is the 4th Visual Basic.Net book I have studied.

Edmond Caldwell got a literature PhD from Tufts University and then decided he would prefer not to. Since then his fiction has appeared in *West Wind Review*, *Mad Hatters' Review*, *Harp & Altar*, *Acappella Zoo*, *Pear Noir!*, *Lamination Colony*, *Prick of the Spindle*, *DIAGRAM*, *Juked*, and elsewhere. He has been twice nominated for a Pushcart Prize, and his short play, *The Liquidation of the Cohn Estate*, was produced in the 2009 Boston Theater Marathon. *Human Wishes / Enemy Combatant* (Say It With Stones, 2012) is his first published novel. Through this book, Mr. Caldwell has created a new type of fiction. His sprawling but interconnected series of stories is full of literary rebellion. The reader is tossed from suspenseful middle-eastern intrigue to a spontaneously obscene Samuel Beckett script. This is the fiction of Aug� and Baudrillard's ilk, at turns blindingly self-aware or blissfully hyperreal. By the end of the book, one imagines the author gleefully stomping over the ruins of a long-forgotten fourth wall; intent, of course, on dying with his boots on.

Entertaining, Intellectual Enjoyment

Tom Stoppard's famous play Arcadia takes place in the same English country estate across two eras: the early Nineteenth Century and the present day. The story divides between Thomasina, the owner's young daughter and her tutor Septimus, and the academics Hannah and Bernard, investigating a possible scandal caused by Lord Byron when he stayed there. The present-day researchers discover, among other things, Thomasina's mathematical gifts, the rise of the picturesque in landscaping, and the Romantic temperament, especially concerning love.

This is an extremely funny play, starting with Thomasina's opening line, "Septimus, what is carnal embrace?". At the same time, it also teaches us about science, math, and literature. It moves seamlessly between the two time periods, and gives all the information we need to understand the various topics in entertaining ways. It is a joy to read.

Engaging and intriging are the first words that spring to mind when considering this book. The story moves at a good pace and the reader is eager to reach the next chapter. The characters are strong and by the end of the book you feel as though you really know them. If time had allowed, once I got hooked by the story I could have read it in one sitting because you just had to know what the outcome was to be. I will certainly purchase book two and look forward to where the story will lead me. Read this book, you will not be disappointed.

A Good Paranormal Romance Book

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Ms King sure used many big words throughout the book which was refreshing as this is not the norm for other paranormal romance books that I've read to date (and I read quite alot of them). Her vivid imagination was captured in her book quite well. And because the book was set in Australia, I just loved it! As an Aussie, I am familiar with the geography of this book (for once) and now I really want to visit Cape Schanck (I only went out to Mornington Peninsula, not Cape Schanck).

Anyway, getting back to the book, I really liked Bree and Sebastian. There were twists and turns throughout the book and I liked how her 'power' developed throughout the book. And Sebastian is so sweet. The book flowed smoothly and everything made sense. The book was also fast-paced which was great.

I just started the 2nd book and I'm quite addicted to the series already. Well done Ms King.

There was a lot of criticism about the big words that were used which I found kind of embarrassing. Its embarrassing to think that literate people would be frightened of big words. I found the alternate universe theories interesting. There were themes of Buddhism and new age which are, I believe the inspiration of the other world. Anyway, it reminds me of the themes the author used. I only reserve five stars for the greatest books I have ever read. It was an interesting story. Another description or phrase that comes to mind "Ye Shall be as gods."
