Heartbreaking, gut wrenching

I'm sitting here trying to decide how to review this. I enjoyed 95% of this story....but that one gut wrenching part caused me to sit the book down for 3 days and decide whether or not I wanted to finish. My heart tore into pieces and it was a place I was not sure I wanted to go.
In the end, the need to finish this story won out and I'm glad it did. After reading inhibitions I was excitedly awaiting the release of unrestricted, where can this story go (I don't want to ruin the end of book 1 or anything in this story so I'm being vague). Kimberly Bracco has taken this story, this couple, to places beyond your expectations to see if they can come together at the end for an HEA. The emotion dragged out of you, hate, sadness, rage, happiness, udder dispare etc its a ride you will not soon forget. For that reason solely this is a 5 star read. For the big ugly tears this is a 5 star read. This us the type of story that will sit with you for a long time. I had to talk it out with a friend of mine and until I started writing this review was still uncertain of how I felt.
Well done Ms. Bracco on an emotion evoking great book.

Surprising and speaks to your heart!

So... you have to read book one! Not only because it's epic, but also because you'll be confused if you start with book two and won't have the feels and the love for Ashley and Tanner that you need to appreciate book two (Unrestricted).

***Some spoilers***

Unrestricted picks up where Inhibitions left off. Tanner, Tanner, Tanner... you silly man you! Honestly, to walk away from a woman who you had to know was faithful and to be so spiteful with your words before you do so?? MAN!

Ashley does NOT forgive easily, not where Tanner is concerned. She ends up with two jobs to cover what NOT having him around will require. Which results in the ultimate heartbreak and a car crash. I did NOT see that coming and was not only completely SHOCKED but very saddened by it. Their poor baby!!!

The middle of this book was crazy sad. I honestly think a disclaimer should be in there. Not because I couldn't handle it, but I was so SHOCKED and it messed with me a little :( Totally doesn't ruin the story, but it was just so sad and I was unprepared at 1am.

Time goes by, therapy visits are made. It's just so hard to watch Ashley struggle. At first I was feeling annoyed by her lack of letting Tanner in, because I love Tanner. But when I think about it rationally and from a real point, then I realize what she experienced was REAL and true to herself. If someone goes through the $h!t storm she did and doesn't end up a little "mental" and mean... well then I don't know, but she had real reactions and she spoke to me in a way that was sad and endearing. I LOVE ASHLEY! She is so strong.

The end, you'll have to read, but it makes all the tears YOU WILL SHED worth it!

Just right!

My daughter really enjoys Life of Fred math and even I fell in love with it. I read that it was great for gifted students AND students with learning disabilities. My daughter is both. It's been great for us.
The explanations are short and simple. There is no need to teach the same thing a dozen different ways. They get it the first time. There is not a lot of repetition, but there is some review to keep the students from forgetting what they have previously learned.
The best thing about this series is that they can be completely independent with it. My daughter tends to want me to spoon feed her lessons, but actually begged to do math so much that I couldn't keep up with her (since I do have a life, too.) She finally picked up the book and started working independently. For us, this is a miracle.
We have several friends using the program as well. The Life of Fred draws in kids who are more language oriented or socially oriented. They are interested enough in the humorous story to put up with the "boring" part of math and never feel bored. Those who are already mathematical really enjoy the program, too, because it doesn't hold them back--they can fly into deeper challenges.
For those who need lots of repetition, there are bridges at the end of every five chapters or so. The bridge tests make sure they have mastered previous work and haven't forgotten it. If they don't get an A on the bridge, there are four more to do. This would provide the most repetition I can imagine anyone could possibly need. But if they wanted more, they have the option of buying the companion work book. We have never needed the companion books but I have read they provide daily lessons and more review.
The first book in the series is Fractions. Students should know how to add and subtact and have memorized their multiplication facts before beginning Fractions. Once they know their facts, they are ready to begin.
The author knows what he's doing and we plan to use the books through high school.

Fantastic!

I am eleven years old. My mom just got me Life of Fred Fractions. I absolutely love it! It actually makes math fun! I used to dread math. Now I want to do it all the time!

M0 Core: Good Read; Applications: Primarily for RealView IDE

The author has written on the Cortex M0 and Cortex M3 in two books (which I own and have read). Both books are good descriptions of the core of the respective architectures. Much of the information is clearly from the ARM technical documentation. Both books are helpful in condensing the ARM technical documentation for readers new to ARM (e.g. migrating from the PIC), or for less experienced users. Later, when such a reader is more experienced with the Cortex M0/M3 architecture they will be better prepared to get more out of the full ARM technical documentation. Be aware that although there is a chapter on assembly language programming and some C examples, this book is not project oriented and does not focus on any specific vendor's Cortex M0 implementation. It is about the Cortex M0 core architecture.

The author worked for ARM for 10 years (state on the back cover). That explains why the majority of the book is written from the vantage point of the ARM RealView tool set. That said, as a user of the GNU tool chain, I found this book to be mildly useful in that respect. There are a few (but far between) mentions of GNU in this book; the vast majority of this text assumes use of the ARM RealView IDE. Although I am experience enough with ARM to port CMSIS code from one vendor architecture to another a reader unfamiliar enough with ARM may find this book frustrating especially if they do not have ARM/RealView (there is a limited demo version).

With respect to the book's content, independent from the tool set, the text is almost exclusively focused on the Cortex M0 core. That is, to understand the various vendor peripherals you need to have a specific vendors' datasheet (or User Manual in the case of NXP) to get the full story on how to use a specific Cortex M0 product. There are some interesting sections (basic architecture, memory, interrupts, and portions of applications examples) that I found useful reading other sections are best read later (power, OS Support, RTOS, and assembly language programming).

So, I understand why the author wrote the book the way he did and steered clear of vendor specific implementations. The book is intended to educate one on the Cortex M0 CORE and not the peripherals. He needed an IDE to illustrate some key concepts. That is why I rated the book only at 4 stars. My expectation were a book with more general information that can be used to understand the used of one or more Cortex M0 vendor implementations and not spend thousands on and IDE. Indeed if you exclude RealView and IAR (Too pricy for the budget conscious) you need to have a very good understanding of Eclipse/CDT to port many Cortex M0 boards to the various IDE's. This is particularly true for the Olimex low-cost boards. For example NXP and CodeRed are tightly coupled and can be difficult for the beginner for non-NXP/CodeRed produced boards. Case in point, the Olimex LPC1114 Cortex M0 board is a wonderful low-cost board ideal for the beginner. However Olimex supplied examples are written for the IAR IDE (go figure). I found, so far, that only Rowley's Crossworks IDE works out-of-the-box with Olimex's boards and for $100 one can obtain a full personal use license for Crossworks. I contacted IAR and ARM and was told they do not have such a low-cost license.

I believe that Newness Press would better serve their audience if they offered a second version of this book. That would be, for example, a Cortex M0 book for the GNU tool chain and Eclipse/IDE. By adding example project for specific low-cost boards and IDE's (I'd choose Crossworks and Olimex) such an edition would be deserving of all 5 stars.

Wonderful book!

In this book I found many missing pieces of what I needed to start development on ARM. They are usually not mentioned in device data-sheets which assume at least some knowledge of the subject. Due to this book I was able to complete my first ARM project. It is very clearly written and in contrast with other similar books, it does not reduce to rewriting the data-sheets. I like in particular a very through section on how to design low-power applications. Even if the discussion in this section is based on NXP devices, the entire approach can be easily adjusted to other families. That is what I did for Freescale Kinetis. If you are new to ARM and target to Cortex-M0/M0+, I highly recommend this book.

About the Author

Mike Sullivan Professor of Mathematics at Chicago State University received a Ph.D. in mathematics from Illinois Institute of Technology. Mike has taught at Chicago State for over 30 years. He is a native of Chicago’s South Side and currently resides in Oaklawn.� Mike has four children.� The two oldest have degrees in mathematics and assisted in proofing, checking examples and exercises, and writing solutions manuals for this project.� Mike III co-authored the Sullivan Graphing with Data Analysis series as well as this series.� Dan, the youngest, sells for Prentice Hall as a generalist.

Mike has authored or co-authored over ten books.� He owns a travel agency, and splits his time between a condo in Naples, Florida and a home in Oaklawn, where Mike enjoys gardening.� Mike first signed this series with Deleen Publishing (Acquired by Macmillan) in 1985.

Mike Sullivan III is a professor of mathematics at Joliet Junior College.� He holds graduate degrees from Depot University in both mathematics and economics.� Mike has co-authored both of the Sullivan graphing series and collaborated with his sister to author supplements for all of the Sullivan series. A great textbook for those students with a poor Math background!

I brought this book because I found some free lectures on-line and the college class featured in the lectures used this book.
This book did teach me to do Algebra at last. The review chapter R was great! I had prior to this book a very poor math background, but this book eliminated my math problems. Before you begin each section of the book, the book instructs the student, where to go in the book for the skills necessary to have prior to beginning the section you want to complete. It was worth the money! Suggestion: Work your way through Chapter R first!

About the Author
Dr. Roger Tomlinson created the first computerized geographic information system in the 1960s while working for the Canadian government. Born in England, he settled in Canada after military service and university, where his work in geomorphology led to applying computerized methods for handling map information. Tomlinson has had a distinguished career as a pioneer in GIS and developed Tomlinson Associates Ltd., which provides geographic consulting services. For twelve years he was chairman of the International Geographical Union GIS Commission, a president of the Canadian Association of Geographers, and most recently was the second-ever recipient of the prestigious Alexander Graham Bell award from the National Geographic Society.
