John Ostrander gets better and better

In the 80's John Ostrander's Suicide Squad was on of the best dark superhero books around. In the 90's his horror superhero book 'The Spectre' was one of the strongest takes on the character yet.

So it's no surprise that in the 00's his dark take on the future of the Star Wars universe would be so good.

He continues to show his skill at developing memorable characters in a short amount of time and keeping multiple storylines going. In this volume the corruption of Cade Skywalker continues and we learn more about the villain of the book. The art remains as good as ever with aliens and humans coming to life.

This series works for both casual fans of Star Wars and for the obsessive fans who know every supporting character from every expanded universe book. That really shows Ostrander's skill at explaining and developing stories.

I'm hungry for the next volume.

A Powerful Ending to a Great Story Arc

Cade Skywalker is a rebellious and emotionally broken former Jedi. Sought by the evil Sith that now rule the galaxy, scheming factions of the Empire, and his own former teachers, Cade heads to Coruscant, the stronghold of his enemies, to try and make amends for the wrongs he has committed.

Claws of the Dragon is the most powerful and action-oriented addition to the Legacy series so far. Bringing together the various threads and backstories from Shards (Volume 2), CotD presents an excellent story filled with battles, scheming, and death that will rock the Star Wars Legacy universe. As well, the origins of such characters as Darth Krayt and Morrigan Corde are revealed.

CotD is my favorite entry in the SW:L universe so far, and I highly recommend it to both graphic novel enthusiasts and Star Wars fans. Volumes 1 and 2 should be read first, however, as Volume 3 builds significantly on the previously-established storylines.

Note: Star Wars Legacy, Volume 3: Claws of the Dragon collects issues 14 through 19 of the comic book series.

About the Author
Dr Pamela Stephenson-Connolly is a sexologist and clinical psychologist who has been a psychotherapist for 15 years. She established a psychotherapy practice in Beverly Hills in 1994, in which she specialised in sex therapy. As Adjunct Professor at the California Graduate Institute, she taught Human Sexuality and Sex Therapy to psychology students for five years. The bestselling author of her husband Billy Connolly's biography, Billy, and a guide to overcoming mental disorders, Head Case, Pamela Stephenson-Connolly lives with her family in New York. She also writes a weekly 'Sexual Healing' column for The Guardian and was one of the star performers on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.

Oversold & dull

In my opinion, there is little doubt that Pamela Stephenson is an exceptional woman - sadly I think that this is not an exceptional book, not enough real sex to be titillating, not enough rigor to be academic and replete with the obvious, e.g. old people have sex, disabled people have sex, very old people stop having sex but should still have a cuddle now and again. I found it lengthy but lightweight, served with a generous helping of syntactic sugar. I'd suggest putting the money that you would have spent on this book and the time you would have spent reading it towards a romantic interlude, even if it's just with yourself.

Knowledge is power!

It is great to read an honest, open and intelligent explanation of a subject that could assist all the adults in the human race, if they were interested. I LOVE the lack of judgement that she emphasises throughout the book - the effort to identify 'normalness' whilst ever it is done of 'free will', with consent, without risk etc.

She is a clever, highly qualified expert in an area that some people might choose 'not to go' - they are the ones who miss out on a lot of great wisdom.

There has been much damage done to individuals, and ultimately 'couples' by various Religious attitudes to this topic "SEX": Pamela has done an excellent job to de- mystify and de-guilt what happens in private. Very well Done.

I like Pamela's engaging and warm style. She tackles all these "taboo" topics in a way that doesn't make you cringe and at the same time teaching you about human sexuality.
